![]() ![]() You feel the effect that heroin had on him, his friends, his relationships…his life. I’ve heard a couple complaints that he didn’t go into enough detail about his drug use, but if you really hone in on what he writes, he gives you all the detail you need. ![]() He describes his relationship with drugs in such a poetic way that it comes off as being, well, a true relationship. The details of his drug use are far from the dirty, nitty gritty stuff we got with Nikki Sixx’s The Heroin Diaries. In fact, at times, it’s easy to forget that Weiland is talking about drugs. ![]() Definitely they wanted to hear the dirty details about his heroin abuse, what it was like to be part of STP, go solo, join forces with Slash and then go back to STP, and so much more. I love his music and when you couple that with his lifestyle, he makes for quite an interesting story.įortunately for me and everyone else intrigued by this man, on May 17th, 2011 you can read all about that interesting story in Not Dead & Not For Sale, Weiland’s memoir.įor Weiland' fan, they was ecstatic to jump into the story of this guy’s life. Needless to say, fandom doesn’t make me blind to the reality that the rock star has lived in for quite some time…drugs, public disputes, general excess… Whether it was Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver or his solo stuff, I’ve enjoyed the music he has created. Until then though, lets look back at this band, and remind ourselves why they made such an impact on the Australian music landscape. They’re obviously still friends who care about making great music, otherwise they would have released some garbage album this year, so I’m keeping my hopes up that we’ll see some new Silverchair material one day. Instead of just straight up saying that they’ll never make music ever again and they all hate each others stupid faces, they use the term indefinite hiatus, which leaves the door wide open for a reunion at some point. The press release today stated that that “ Despite (their) best efforts over the last year or so, it’s become increasingly clear that the spark simply isn’t there”.īut nowhere in the press release does it say that they could never recapture that sparks and reunite for one last tour a few years into the future. Sources say that the band, made up of Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou, have been trying to make another album for the past couple of years but haven’t been able to make decisions as a group and that they’ve slowly been moving apart. Silverchair have officially called it quits after being a band for almost 20 years, or have they? ![]()
